Year 2 Art

A post in our latest news section.

Our topic for this autumn term is drawing 2D to 3D. Last week, the children learned about tone and the importance in how it is used to create 3D shapes. We used graphite pencils to create light tones (tickling the paper with our pencils) all the way through to the darkest tone we could create: we even had to blow graphite dust from the paper, we pressed so hard!

This week, the children have started to create 3D shapes, starting with drawing a circle and creating a sphere. The children remembered to use fluid, curved strokes with the side of their pencils to keep the circular shape. They worked well to develop their skills and when we finish our spheres, we will move onto cubes and pyramids.

A great start to our art topic from all of the class. Well done Year 2!
