Year 1 Celebration of the Word – St Francis of Assisi!

Today, Year 1 took part in a very special Celebration of the Word in our beautiful Gospel Garden, centred around St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology and animals. As Pope Leo has declared this year as a Jubilee Year of St Francis, it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to reflect on his message of caring for God’s creation.
We listened carefully to scripture from the Book of Genesis and spent time thinking deeply about how we can be good Stewards of Creation, just like St Francis. The children shared thoughtful ideas about showing kindness to the world around them, from looking after plants and animals to caring for one another.
As part of our celebration, each child planted their own seed in the Gospel Garden. This was a meaningful way to remind us that, just like our seeds, we can grow in love, care and responsibility.
We ended our time together with a prayer, thanking God for all of His wonderful creations and asking for guidance in looking after our world.
A truly peaceful and reflective experience for Year 1!
