This week, Year 1 took part in a Celebration of the Word to mark the Feast of the Epiphany.
The children gathered quietly and listened carefully as we retold the story of the Wise Men, who followed a bright star to find the baby Jesus. Together, we explored how the Wise Men brought special gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and what these gifts tell us about how special Jesus is.
Through discussion and reflection, the children learned that the Feast of the Epiphany reminds us that Jesus is a gift for everyone. They shared thoughtful ideas about how the Wise Men might have felt when they found Jesus and made links to how we can follow Jesus’ light by being kind and loving towards others.

The Celebration of the Word provided a calm and meaningful opportunity for the children to pray together, reflect on the story, and deepen their understanding of this important moment in the Church’s year. The children engaged beautifully throughout and showed great respect and reverence.
It was a lovely way for Year 1 to continue their RE learning and grow in their understanding of faith, belonging, and God’s love for everyone.
