This week in Art, the children continued their mark making journey by using paint to apply the techniques they have been developing over the unit. After experimenting with sketching and exploring how different materials can create a range of textures, the children were excited to see how these ideas could be translated into paint.
They explored a variety of brush strokes and tools to create lines, dots, dashes and patterns and discovered how changes in direction, pressure and movement can affect the marks they make. The focus was on using paint to build texture, explore rhythm and experiment with artistic control.
The children showed great focus and creativity, confidently using the techniques they have learned to produce expressive work. It was wonderful to see them thinking like artists as they made choices about their use of space as well as the marks they made whilst reflecting on how different effects could be achieved.
We look forward to continuing this learning next week as we build on these foundational skills in our Art journey.
