Presenting Our Ideas in Year 1!

A post in our latest news section.

This week in English, Year 1 have been concluding our unit on the wonderful story The Velveteen Rabbit. Inspired by the story, the children spent time thinking carefully about their own beloved toys, why they are so special to them and what makes them real.

The children prepared information about their toys using fantastic adjectives and conjunctions to help make their sentences more detailed and engaging. They then presented their ideas to one another within their groups, showing growing confidence in both their speaking and listening skills.

During the presentations, the children also had opportunities to ask thoughtful questions about each other’s toys and ideas, creating a wonderfully collaborative learning environment. It was lovely to see the children speaking so confidently and proudly sharing the wonderful sentences they had created.

Some courageous children then chose to present their ideas to the whole class, wow! We were so impressed by their bravery, confidence and enthusiasm while speaking in front of everyone. Year 1 should be incredibly proud of themselves!
