This week, we have been hunter gatherers! The children are finding the Stone Age fascinating. This lesson, we looked at what our ancestors ate and how they found it: we like the idea of eating fruit, berries and nuts, but having to hunt for mammoth might be more challenging. Miss Pearson brought in some flints which were found in Northumberland and on the Isle of Wight and the children had fun looking at their shapes and colours and how different they were. The children were very surprised at how sharp the flint was when Miss Pearson cut through some paper with the edge and we discussed how our ancestors would have used them to cut meat and skins. Next lesson, we will be cave painting!
